Treetopia gave sports fans and foodies a chance to celebrate the holidays early by helping raise over $5000 through CelebriTrees, an online auction to support the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford.
With help from athletes, teams, and chefs, we used various decorations and colorful artificial trees to create 5 sports-themed trees that represented local sports teams and celebrities, and auctioned them off for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald House.
The event was made extraspecial by signed items and gift packages from “Foodie Chap” Liam Mayclem, celebritychef David Lawrence, Raiders’ quarterback Derek Carr, the 49ers’ former offensive linebacker Eric Heitmann, the San Jose Sharks, the San Jose Earthquakes, and the Stanford Athletic Club.
Winners of the sports-themed treeswill take home unique living room displays that are perfectfor hosting viewing parties or creating a spirited Christmas celebration. The winner of the “Foodie Tree” will enjoy a dinner for two at 1300 on Fillmore, lunch with Liam and David at David’s recently opened Black Bark BBQ, and tickets for two to see Los Lobos at the Fillmore in San Francisco on December 4.
The Ronald McDonald House at Stanford also has a tree decorated with a variety of donated items, and ornaments made by families staying at the House.
All the proceeds from this auction will benefit Ronald McDonald House at Stanford where families can stay when they have a critically ill child being treated at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, regardless of their ability to pay the $10 nightly fee.
Many of the kids are waiting for a transplant, have heart disease, and other rare genetic conditions. Families can stay weeks, months, or more than a year, and often return many times during their child’s treatment. Please visit this link to learn what you can do to help.
