Did you know that it’s the second most common cancer that affects women in the US? One in eight American women develop an invasive form of the condition over the course of their lifetime. This post highlights ways to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

What is Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

It happens yearly in October, and the goal is to raise funds for research and promote steps for prevention. It also focuses on spreading accurate information on breast cancer. Impactful stories of patients and survivors take center stage.

Tip: Visit CDC.gov for in-depth statistics on breast cancer. For direct donations and other resources, visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation website.

How to Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month

There’s no need to be a Hollywood A-lister or part of the Fortune 500 list to support this worthwhile campaign. With the help of people like you, many brands have come up with creative ways to support the cause. To start, here’s how we’re pitching in:

More Brands Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness

We looked at Instagram to discover more brands that are advocating for the cause in creative ways. Check them out:

Hungry Howie’s Pizza

Hungry Howie’s Pizza has been donating to National Breast Cancer Foundation for over a decade. This year, their #LoveHopePizza campaign is back. A portion of sales from this campaign goes to the organization. Since its launch, the pizza chain has raised almost $3M for the cause.

Hello Bello

As part of the #HelloBelloGiving project for October, this baby products company puts the spotlight on Breast Cancer Awareness. They’re giving a year’s supply to Deanna Ireland, who was diagnosed with the condition while pregnant. The company also featured the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in the post. The non-profit programs of this facility help uninsured patients get screened and treated for breast cancer.

Madam Glam

This nail polish company created a special line dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness. For every bottle sold in their Think Pink Collection, they’ll donate $1 to Surviving Breast Cancer Organization. Also, customers who join the cause get a chance to win an Advent Calendar.

Crystal Low Art

This year, artist Crystal Low is donating 10% of her sales to Living Beyond Cancer. Her resin dishes feature geometric and hand-drawn designs. Display these cheeky catch all trays on your dresser or coffee table. They’re perfect for holding your precious trinkets.

Destin Commons

Florida-based shopping mall, Destin Commons, has several brands and products lined up for Breast Cancer Awareness. One of them is Brighton’s Power of Pink. This fun brand makes gorgeous charm bracelets. And for every purchase, they’ll donate $10 to breast cancer charities.

Macy’s partners with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to raise funds for its researchers. Shown here are Dr. Titia de Lange, a biomedical scientist and survivor, Marenda Taylor. Support the cause by buying from the brand’s Pink Shop or donating online.

Delta Air Lines

If you have unused Delta SkyMiles and aren’t planning to travel soon, consider donating them to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This airline company is a staunch supporter of the cause. In 2010, they painted one of their planes with the trademark ribbon to raise awareness. It flies the pink skies up to this day.

Think Pink at Home: How to Support the Cause Through Your Décor

Another way to support Breast Cancer Awareness is through home decorations. Here are some ideas to show support by sprucing up your spaces:

Put up a pink wreath.

Decorate a pink wreath with symbolic ornaments to show support. Kara Whitten decorated hers with DIY pompoms. She cut out an important message from pink card stock. “Check Yo’ Self” stresses the importance of self-examination.

Dedicate a shelf to the cause.

Arrange your book collection by color and lend the pink side to Breast Cancer Awareness. Search for books on the cause like B for Breast Cancer by Christine Hamill. Make it a personal goal to read up and spread the message.

Add a dash of pink to your Halloween.

Celebrate a two-in-one occasion by giving your boo-tiful décor a twist. Show support for the cause by incorporating the ribbon in your Halloween display. Trick or treaters will be tickled pink!

Decorate a pink Christmas tree.

Decorate for the holidays using a pink tree as early as October. Dress it up with Breast Cancer Awareness-themed decorations like pink ribbons and beaded garlands. When October is over, replace them with Christmas-themed decorations. Or keep the original theme to show support for the cause until year end.
