Cinco de Mayo Tree

Living in Texas, Cinco de Mayo does not go unnoticed. My daughter is learning about it in school and piñatas are for sale on the end caps at the grocery store — it only makes sense that we would celebrate the holiday at home as well.

Feliz Navidad Tree

At first I thought I would recreate my Feliz Navidad tree, but how could I improve upon cactus, mini piñatas and souvenir skirts? I know, I needed my friend Crafty Chica and a papel picado banner.

Using Crafty Chica paper, baker’s twine, a Big Shot, hole reinforcer stickers, Avery Elle Papel Picado goodies and embossing supplies, I whipped up a banner. It was mini and just right for a Winter White Potted Pine Tree.

I was pleased as punch with how my banner looked on the tree!

My cactus and mini piñatas came back out to play for Cinco de Mayo. I also updated with tons of colorful faux flowers to help welcome spring.

Last, but not least, I had to hang a real papel picado banner to reflect the mini version I made for my Cinco de Mayo tree. I can’t wait to turn this baby on come May 5th and sip a few margaritas under the glow of my fabulously decorated tree!
