Make a significant change in your life with resolutions that work and are less difficult to maintain.

Every year, we list down and vow to make changes in our lives with resolutions that last somewhere between two weeks and one full quarter of the year. We’ve all been there and we all know how difficult it can sometimes get as more and more temptations and reasons to break our resolutions come along. Fortunately, Treetopia has listed a few, often-aimed-for life-changing resolutions and ways you can stay on track.

Be Fitter

Fabulous and Life-changing Resolutions for 2013

People automatically equate being fit to extreme dieting and rigorous exercising. Remember that our bodies respond differently to stimuli so what works for that ultra-thin celebrity does not necessarily mean that it will work you. If your goal is to be fit, you have to understand your body’s needs first and create a strategy tailor-made according to it. Come up with a reasonable fitness goal. The contestants of The Biggest Loser may have lost a lot of weight in the first few weeks, but keep in mind that they were also living in seclusion with nothing to do but diet and exercise with the help of experts. Create fitness plans to work around your other priorities and you will see your efforts pay off when your fabulous new self emerges at the end of this fitness roller coaster ride.

Learn Something

learn-64058_640

More often than not, one of our awesome but idealistic goals is to learn something new, whether it is a new language (Oui!) or a new skill (want to be the next Master Chef?), or to pursue your dream that’s been put on hold (today the shower, tomorrow Broadway!). Here’s a secret to reaching your goal: if you want it bad enough, just go for it. It’s never too late and you’re never too old to learn something new, especially something that would add to your already wonderful and charming personality. No one ever gets it right the first time, but with patience and enough passion, you will achieve your goals.

Treetopia shows you how to create something fabulous out of old Christmas cards

When Thanksgiving ends, the influx of Christmas cards starts to pour in within weeks. Each one is unique in the sense that it contains imprints of those fantastic people whom we hold dear and who took the time to scribble messages to warm our hearts during the chilly Christmas season.  Instead of stuffing all those gorgeous Christmas cards in a box, never knowing when they will be touched by the sun’s rays again, channel your creative energy into preserving those little cards filled with love and sentiments. Treetopia has thought of ways on how you can give your old Christmas cards new life.

Wall of Fame

While we all say that every unique Christmas card is a treasure, it’s impossible not to have a favorite among your collection. Choose an empty area in your home, perhaps a small wall space or at the back of one of your doors, and display all your favorite Christmas cards in that area. You can even purchase a large cork or laminated board where the cards will be tacked or taped if you don’t want to stick the cards directly on your wall. Name this space the Christmas Cards Wall of Fame.

If you’re looking for fantastic places to visit, follow the trail to some of film’s most epic journeys. One of the things that makes adventure films great is getting introduced to fantastic places you would otherwise not have known about. Films have taken us from the deep recesses of Earth to the outermost areas of space using green screens and other advanced technological techniques employed by filmmakers. However, there are films that used real places as a backdrop to some of the most epic film journeys ever made. Consider visiting these unbelievably amazing places on your next vacation:

Middle Earth

hobbiton the shire

January 3 of each year celebrates the birth of one of the most prominent literary figures of high fantasy, John Ronald Ruel Tolkien, more commonly known as J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and The Silmarillon, among other books concerning the epic story of Middle Earth. Follow in the footsteps of the fellowship of the ring when you visit various places in New Zealand. Explore Kaitoke Regional Park, the enchanting land of Rivendell where Arwen Evenstar dwells, or pass solemnly by Mount Owen, recognized by Gimli son of Glóin as Dimrill Dale, where the fellowship rested after their escape from Moria where Gandalf the Grey fell in battle against the Balrog.

get your gears turning
The long holiday certainly bought extra time for merry-making and anything-but-work activities but now that the holiday season is over, it’s time to head back out to the real world. If you’re like most people, you’re probably experiencing difficulty getting things back on track. Here’s some good news: Treetopia has come up with a list of things to do to jump-start your brain and get your gears turning smoothly again.

Exercise

Bicycle

It’s the “E” word that most people include as part of their New Year’s resolutions, but it’s not always the one that goes beyond the two-week mark. Having the discipline to follow through an appropriate exercise routine can help turn your gears because it eases stress and gives you enough energy to power through your day. It also releases endorphins to enhance your mood.

Since 2013 has officially begun and the pressure is on to bring back your home to its fabulous, gleaming state, make sure that the season of festivities did not leave a permanent mark in your home. Treetopia has gathered some quick fixes for unwanted stains that usually come with amazing parties.

Sauces, Condiments, and Grease

smears of different sauces

We all want our food to have the most delectable flavors; however, sometimes the flavors roll off our plates to embrace our linen table cloths and carpets. Instead of allowing the stain to settle and spending a lot of time in an attempt to revive the initial glorious appearance of your fabrics and linens, do a quick first-aid rescue using ordinary household items. Use a paper towel to scoop up the excess sauce, condiment, or food grease, then dab the stained area with a dishwashing liquid solution. Rinse with cold water.

happy mothers day greeting

Moms are the best! They have boundless amounts of energy to work all day and still prepare dinner and kiss the kids good night. This Christmas, show them you appreciate everything they do for you. Here are some holiday gift ideas that will be appreciated by moms in every stage of motherhood:

Something Needed

One way to make sure that your gift will be fully appreciated is to find out what mom needs around the house, whether it’s an actual household item or a task that needs doing: a new non-stick pan, a set of bed covers, a nice painting to fill the bare wall, a new pair of shoes for walking in the park—or even repairs around the house. Just make sure that you call in the experts for repairs if you’re not one. Do what you can to make her life easier for the rest of the year.
