Treetopia shows you how to create something fabulous out of old Christmas cards

When Thanksgiving ends, the influx of Christmas cards starts to pour in within weeks. Each one is unique in the sense that it contains imprints of those fantastic people whom we hold dear and who took the time to scribble messages to warm our hearts during the chilly Christmas season.  Instead of stuffing all those gorgeous Christmas cards in a box, never knowing when they will be touched by the sun’s rays again, channel your creative energy into preserving those little cards filled with love and sentiments. Treetopia has thought of ways on how you can give your old Christmas cards new life.

Wall of Fame

While we all say that every unique Christmas card is a treasure, it’s impossible not to have a favorite among your collection. Choose an empty area in your home, perhaps a small wall space or at the back of one of your doors, and display all your favorite Christmas cards in that area. You can even purchase a large cork or laminated board where the cards will be tacked or taped if you don’t want to stick the cards directly on your wall. Name this space the Christmas Cards Wall of Fame.

A look at some fabulous celebrity Christmas homes this holiday season

Now that we have reached the climax of 2012’s holiday season and we have showcased the beauty of our fabulously decorated homes, it’s time to put our feet up and take a breather before we start removing all the holiday décor. As you relax, we invite you to enjoy or draw inspiration from celebrity home designs for the holidays.

Simple Joys

Grammy-winning country singer Trisha Yearwood favors the simple but gorgeous Southern style décor in her Nashville home. Her family’s whole abode is decorated with fresh greenery for an intimate, nature-inspired Christmas celebration. Fresh wreaths with flowers such as magnolias and roses not only make her home more beautiful, but also fill her home with a natural, sweet, floral fragrance.

Handy Décor

TV Host Kathie Lee Gifford decorated her home with handmade ornaments with the help of interior designer Eddie Ross. By sewing up old shirts and tree skirts, Eddie showed Kathie Lee how to give new life to old Christmas décor.

Charming Vintage

Multiplatinum singer-songwriter Jewel Kilcher, better known as Jewel, prefers simple, rustic, vintage pieces when decorating her home. Her Christmas tree displays an assortment of décor from glass ornaments to vintage postcards, much like her entire home which is decorated with eclectic pieces that blend together in a beautiful but understated elegance with the help of interior designer Erin Valencich.

Maximum Elegance

While the celebrities above favored simple décor, there are celebrities who went the distance to create a magical and elegant display for the holidays. Actor couple Brooke Burke and David Charvet showcased a cool white and silver-themed decoration while Sherri Sheppard’s home bathed in the warm, elegant glow of a gold and champagne-themed display. The white and silver Christmas and gold and champagne holiday motifs came from the inspired minds of designers Sandra Espinet and Michael Russo, respectively.
