Today is a day we should celebrate with cheer, for today we celebrate Dr. Seuss, that dear

On March 2 of every year, we celebrate the birth of one of the most prominent icons of children’s literature. Theodor Seuss Geisel, more popularly known as Dr. Seuss, challenged everyone to expand the borders of the imagination and, while people may think that the lessons in his books are only for children, they are really universal.

Food, Glorious Food!

Mardis Gras is not the English translation of “Fat Tuesday” for nothing. Since this day of celebration is held before Lent and fasting begin, it’s only natural to gorge on glorious food. So if you really want a carnival-inspired celebration, it is a must for your party to be filled (if not overflowing) with food. You can start off with a simple appetizer like this scrumptious shrimp canapé recipe from Leslie Styles’ blog. Caryn Ross also shares a couple of easy-to-make Mardis Gras recipes on her blog, Cooking with Caryn. Follow it up with three or four types of main dish until your guests reach the delicious moon pie dessert or traditional king cake. You don’t have to worry because there’s always room for dessert.

You may be on our own but it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Valentine’s Day. Here are some home decorating tips to make your home ooze a romantic atmosphere.

Valentine’s Day is an occasion met with a full spectrum of emotions: from excitement to hatred and simply not caring. While many single people tend to express dislike for this day, the truth is, you don’t have to be in a romantic relationship to enjoy Valentine’s Day and neither should you feel sorry for yourself. This day is an occasion to celebrate love and every kind of relationship founded on love, not just romantic ones. One of the ways you can have your own celebration is by sprucing up your home décor to give your guests a warm, fuzzy feeling when they step inside your abode. Here are some simple Valentine décor to consider:

Reds and Pinks

They say red is the color of love, so if there’s any color combination that’s spot on for Valentine’s it’s the full spectrum of red and pink. Bring out or buy a red carpet, hang pink curtains, and protect your dining table with red and pink place mats. You can also add some white accents to soften the effect.

If you’re thinking of revamping the style of your home, Treetopia gives you a preview of some top home décor trends for 2013

If you’re one of the many who belong to the hip, stylish, sophisticated crowd, then you’re probably looking for a way to revamp your home according to the new fashion trends. Since Treetopia appreciates what rocks the world of fashion and design, we have gathered some of the top home décor trends that will certainly make your nest the fabulous home it was meant to be.

Crafty Transparent Charms

One of the current trends is to use transparent décor, playing with its appearance to suit your home. It can be as easy as finding the perfect transparent or glass décor or channeling your creative energies to tailor an ornament or object and transform it into a perfectly fitting decoration for your home.

Smart Urban Living

Since more and more people are flocking to the city, living spaces have become smaller. This year, having décor with multiple functions takes center stage. A multi-function shelf that can serve as a room divider, bookshelf, and display cabinet is the perfect way to follow the trend and to maximize the space in your home.

A Feast of Colors

If you want to give your already high spirits an added boost, paint or decorate your home with bold and vivid colors. Bright colors uplift your mood, especially on those long work nights, and keep you upbeat and cheerful when you come home to your private quarters after a night of fabulous partying. You can also match bright colors with geometric patterns or a design that suits your liking. The important part is to make sure that the patterns and colors complement each other.

Back to Nature

Nature has been inspiring a lot of people so it’s not a surprise that it has become an interior design trend as well. Style your home with either nature-inspired décor or furniture fashioned from elements of nature. This will certainly improve the relaxing ambiance in your home.

Treetopia shows you how to create something fabulous out of old Christmas cards

When Thanksgiving ends, the influx of Christmas cards starts to pour in within weeks. Each one is unique in the sense that it contains imprints of those fantastic people whom we hold dear and who took the time to scribble messages to warm our hearts during the chilly Christmas season.  Instead of stuffing all those gorgeous Christmas cards in a box, never knowing when they will be touched by the sun’s rays again, channel your creative energy into preserving those little cards filled with love and sentiments. Treetopia has thought of ways on how you can give your old Christmas cards new life.

Wall of Fame

While we all say that every unique Christmas card is a treasure, it’s impossible not to have a favorite among your collection. Choose an empty area in your home, perhaps a small wall space or at the back of one of your doors, and display all your favorite Christmas cards in that area. You can even purchase a large cork or laminated board where the cards will be tacked or taped if you don’t want to stick the cards directly on your wall. Name this space the Christmas Cards Wall of Fame.
