Scary films have terrorized moviegoers through the decades with their disturbing plots, creepy sounds, and believable visual effects. Here are Treetopia’s picks for the most frightening films of each decade.

The Tingler movie poster 1950s: The Tingler (1959)

This camp cult classic tells the story of a pathologist who discovers that spine-tingling is caused by a spinal-cord parasite who lives on human fear. As a person becomes more afraid, the centipede-like organism dubbed as “the tingler” grows stronger and kills its host by crushing his or her spine.

The Tingler became famous when it was originally released in US cinemas with a gimmick that involved vibrating devices on theater chairs that activated at the very moment the film depicted the creature escaping into a movie theater. Consider recreating this spine-tingling effect if you want to give someone some extra fright!

Everybody wants to live in cozy, spacious houses. But do you know that studios and small apartments can be spacious as well? Treetopia shows you how you can open up space even in the tiniest of homes with these clever tricks:

1. Use a Room for Two Purposes Instead of One

One of the best ways to make the most out of a limited space is to use it for more than one purpose. Some people, for instance, set up their home office in the living room, while others have their workout space in the bedroom.

Tables can serve many purposes. To make the most of them, at the same time maximizing space, hold both the dining area and the library in a single room. Not only is this combination practical, it looks charming too!

Gathering your friends every now and then for a night of fun can help you feel invigorated to take on busy days ahead. This weekend, get your friends all glammed up for a night of lovely concoctions and a fun-filled dance fest.

Here are some tips on how you can graciously host a stress-free cocktail party right in your own living room:

Make Plenty of Room for Your Guests

Arrange your living room furniture so that guests can move throughout the area easily. Push big couches and other bulky pieces against the walls to open up floor space, if necessary.

Gray couches on the side and a bigger floor area

Remove area rugs to make room for a dancing area. The rule of thumb is three square feet of dance floor per dancing guest, so tuck away any thing that might get in the way of dance moves.

Scatter a few podium bar tables where guests can gather around to encourage party movement and conversation. Setting up these mini tables also provides space for people to put down their drinks in case they want to dance or need to go to the powder room.
