Super Bowl Themed Trees: The Perfect Homegating Decoration

Posted by Jennifer Perkins in Home Decorating with Treetopia

How to decorate a Denver Broncos tree.

Who will you be rooting for this Sunday? Do you bleed Broncos orange or are you on team Panthers forever? No matter who you will be cheering for, nothing says Super Bowl like a tree. Treetopia just so happens to have an orange one and a black one perfect for sports fans.

For the Denver Broncos, I decorated my Treetopia Basics Orange Tree. Don’t worry—after Super Bowl Sunday, this tree transitions beautifully into a fall, Halloween and craft room tree. The Carolina Panthers are adorning a Treetopia Tuxedo Black Tree. Again, this gorgeous tree is not a one-trick Super Bowl pony—decorate this bad boy for Halloween or Christmas.

What does one decorate a Super Bowl themed tree with? I started with the basics, just like I would any other tree. I always start with tinsel. Next comes plain ornaments. From here I might add another garland, like this navy pompom fringe. The last thing I add are my fancy ornaments, or in this case, toy footballs.

I’m a firm believer that you can put anything on a tree—from vinyl records to Fisher-Price toys, most anything is fair game. One of my fave tricks is using paper plates to decorate trees. I’ve cut them up for plaid themed trees and seen my friend Cathie Filian use full-sized skull plates to decorate a Day of the Dead tree. In this case, Panther and Bronco plates were the perfect additions to my homegating trees.

So who will you be cheering for Sunday? More importantly, how will you decorate?
