Fabulously Fearsome Villain Costumes

Posted by Treetopia in DIY Ideas

Halloween is the time to show some love to our favorite bad guys. Follow these simple tips, and rule any Halloween costume party while dressed up as your favorite fantasy villain or villainess.

Severus Snape from Harry Potter

This extremely skillful wizard from the Harry Potter books may not be a real villain in the story, but his cold exterior and complex personality make him the character that we most love to hate.

Conjure up a stylish image as Severus Snape

To copy Snape’s outfit, you will need to find or create a black robe with special extra-wide sleeves that are split from the side to the shoulder. Use this helpful tutorial to make the robe and replace the green inner lining with a black one.

Substitute a black robe for Snape’s knee length jacket by turning up the collar and using safety pins to pinch the robe at the back and sleeves for a tighter fit. The rest of the attire consists of a white collared shirt under the jacket, a pair of black slacks, and black square-toe boots.

Snape has shaggy black hair with a part in the middle. Use a bit of hair mousse to give your hair a slick, greasy look. Follow this simple guide to recreate Snape’s polished black wand.

White Witch from The Chronicles of Narnia

The White Witch is the icy embodiment of pure evil. A malicious and selfish sorceress, her only redeeming trait is her staggering sense of style.

Start off with a white, silver, or icy blue long dress. Fashion a cloak out of thick white felt and accent it by draping a length of fake white fur on your shoulders. Glam up your ensemble with shimmering silver accessories and light-colored strappy shoes.

Strike fear as the cold and classy White Witch

The real trick to nailing the White Witch look is the make-up. Use iridescent powder on your face for a pale, ghostly complexion. Define your eyes with white pencil eyeliner, silver liquid eyeliner, and lots of white and blue eye shadow. Cruella de Vil from One Hundred and One Dalmatians

When a villainess’ last name is a deliberate pun of the word “devil,” you know she is the worst of the lot. The depth of her sinister mind is matched only by the glamor of her wardrobe. She definitely puts the fierce in “fearsome.”

Evil can be elegant when you’re Cruella de Vil

Cruella’s look is fairly easy to replicate. Slink into a long black dress, put on dark stockings, and wear long red gloves and red heels. A light-colored fake fur coat or boa is essential. Slather on white foundation and apply blood red lipstick. If you can’t find a black and white wig at the costume shop, use colored hairspray on your own hair or on a wig. Accessorize with a Dalmatian puppy stuffed toy.

Put together any of these elegantly evil costumes and celebrate Halloween in sinister style!
